in 1978, famed latin jazz percussionist willie bobo released a promo-only 12” single featuring a “special disco version” of “always there”, a cut from his most recent album hell of an act to follow. pressed in extremely limited quantities and never available commercially, this 12” quickly became a highly sought-after rarity for djs and collectors. now, this lost treasure is back in print while supplies last, complete with an exclusive a new multitrack edit of “always there” from dj / crate-digger extraordinaire kon (bbe / soul clap) on the b-side. released in partnership with the bobo family, this official pressing revisits a dancefloor-ready masterpiece.

when tresor founder dimitri hegemann stumbled into a former bank vault in east berlin on march 13th 1991, he had little idea that the space he had unlocked would fast become one of berlin s most influential and enduring techno clubs. “we didn’t know what would happen 10 months later,” he says. “we signed a lease for a year. which eventually got renewed for another three months, and another three months…”
as tresor celebrates its 25th anniversary with this work of artists from the us, germany, china, france, austria, italy and the uk, it is worth dwelling on how the cultural conditions that birthed detroit techno – economic neglect and broken industry – were mirrored by the disused bunkers and impromptu parties of post-unification east berlin, where techno found new, vigorous expression.

dele sosimis album you no fit touch am was released in 2015 to much universal acclaim. a perfect document of the lessons the keyboard master and vocalist learned in fela kuti s ranks during the 70s and 80s, but brought firmly up-to-date and with contemporary social comment as vital to the afrobeat genre as any rhythm or instrument. in 2016, to take that forward thinking even further, wah wah 45s commissioned four huge remixes from a quartet of the uk s most interesting new production names. that was just part one of the story though this year the label can reveal the final four remixes to be taken from this hugely popular and influential project.
